It's been awhile since we posted last and thus, we've already fell victim to our own ambition. It's easy for us to get lost in the sea of exciting things happening around Game On. Just this past month, we have done all kinds of awesome events, remodels, new products and so much more that we should have been posting about it right here, but alas, we were so busy doing it, we barely had a chance to write about it before moving onto the next thing. This is not what we wanted to happen as we drove towards our remodeled website - we wanted it to have new articles, videos and photos weekly!
So you may have asked yourself if you made it into Game On McCook this last Saturday - what was going on? The building was completely packed with people playing Magic the Gathering, and I was in the thick of it - surprised by the turnout and having a blast. Fresh off of Oath of the Gatewatch release, we decided to run a tournament to give away over a few boxes worth of prizes to all the players that come out and support their local game store. Or if you had came by earlier in the day you may have noticed that there were a bunch of people playing in one of our first large Pokemon prerelease events. This isn't the end of all the fun to be had yet this year, oh no the tournaments are only just beginning.
Well it's time to drink some coffee and chug some Rockstars because tonight at midnight is the Oath of the Gatewatch prerelease. Four times a year we get the excitement of opening up packs of magic cards a whole week before they are available for sale anywhere else and it's always a weekend packed with fun. This set will be no exception, with two new Planeswalkers, an eldrazi titan and a few cards that are certain to make a solid impact on not only standard, but also modern there is no reason to skip out on this set. However, this set also brings to the table a few oddities such as colorless mana getting it's own symbol and the new mechanics that are suggesting more two-headed giant play. Two-headed giant being a game type where a team of two players share a life total of thirty and take on an opposing team. With so much new stuff we may as well dive right into the thick of it.
